RESEARCH, IN CONTEXT
NAD, NR and longevity claims
A biomarker change can be interesting without demonstrating a longer or healthier life.

Name the intervention first
NAD is involved in cellular processes. Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is an NAD precursor studied as an oral supplement. An oral NR study is not evidence for an NAD infusion, a different precursor, a multi-ingredient blend or an unrelated dose. Treat those as separate questions.
An early human trial, in context
A 2018 randomized crossover study had 24 healthy middle-aged and older adults complete six-week treatment periods. NR raised NAD-related measures and was generally tolerated over that short study period. It did not establish lifespan extension or reversal of aging.
The small sample and limited follow-up cannot answer every question about long-term effectiveness, rare harms or use in people with different medical conditions. Exploratory physiological findings should not be advertised as confirmed disease prevention.
Before a recurring purchase
Ask which outcome you hope to change, whether the exact product has relevant human evidence, and whether the result would matter in daily life. Compare the ongoing cost with established needs such as food, appropriate activity and clinical care. You can reasonably decide to wait for stronger evidence.
Tru Niagen is one commercial NR brand to research. This ordinary link is provided for label and price comparison; it is not a paid endorsement or a recommendation that everyone should take NR. Ask a clinician or pharmacist about your circumstances and medicines.
